The annual award was presented to Dave Harcourt at the BVSF AGM by Alan Greenouf last year’s winner and Chairman of the BVSF.
This year the award was given for the outstanding contribution Dave has personally made to the British Salvage Industry and the on-going contribution that DH Systems has made to the member companies.
The BVSF was established at the instigation of motor insurers who required an industry representative body with which it could communicate on all matters affecting vehicle salvage. Set up on 1st July 1998 and launched by the then Minister for Roads its members represent approx. 85% of the vehicle salvage business in the UK.

Utilising the latest technology and know how, DH Systems releases version one of the cloud. All customer data will immediately be put into the cloud, and our trained operators working on a three shift system will pull all the necessary levers required to keep the cloud from raining out your data. Rest assured that our trained monkeys will keep an eye on our trained lever pullers. The trained chimps will take care of the monkeys, and continue to develop the desktop software and websites in their spare time.
We put your vehicles on the internet.
With Frontier Salvage & Dismantling, we make your vehicles and data available for use in the office. Why not make your vehicles available for a larger audience. How about 30 million more people? Thirty million people used the internet in the UK in 2010, thousands upon thousands start browsing every day. (source)
With your vehicles on the internet, many millions of people are able to find the vehicle they require and find you. There is no hassle involved, at DH Systems we have the services in place to automatically send vehicles from your desktop system to your website without any web knowledge at all.
Know nothing about websites? That’s ok, we offer a complete web design service right from adding a few links to your current site to creating and hosting you a complete site. Don’t take our word for it, take a look at our Powered by DH Systems page to see who knows their web presence is essential in the modern world.
M&J Autos, based in Essex have recently chosen DH Systems’ Industry Leading Frontier Salvage & Dismantling system after deciding to migrate away from Actual systems.
DH Systems were able to take the existing data from their old system, and import and convert the data over to the Frontier Salvage & Dismantling system. Not only does this mean that M&J Autos runs only one system, it also means that their entire history of vehicles is available in the new system for them to use.
With their new system, they immediately have the ability to upload vehicle data to both their website and the SalvageMarket auction website.
M&J Autos website was linked to their old system which meant that the data for the website was going to be out of date very quickly. DH Systems managed an orderly transition between their old data and new data, and provided a new design for their own website, all in a timely and seamless manner.
Overall, M&J Autos had a very smooth and orderly transition from their old system to the new system, and now benefit from the most widely used and industry standard Frontier Salvage & Dismantling system.
Their website listing can be viewed: Salvage list, Breaking list.
SCB Vehicle Dismantlers – new website now live
SCB Vehicle Dismantlers, the leading Salvage Vehicle and Breaking Vehicle Recyclers in Scotland, announce their new website is now live.
Its easier than ever to find the vehicle you are looking for, said Hamish, the SCB Managing Director. With a fresh new look, and an easy to navigate listings page, you can narrow down your vehicle selection in just a few seconds.
With hundreds of new vehicles being added each week, the SCB website will be the first port of call for many people looking for a bargain for salvage vehicles and spare parts from a breaking vehicle.
Visit SCB Vehicle Dismantlers now to find a salvage vehicle or a spare part for a car off a breaking vehicle.
DH Systems designed and hosts the SCB Vehicle Dismantlers website, and provides the automatic link between their leading Vehicle Salvage Software – Frontier and their front end website services. DH Systems connects local salvage data to your public facing site, giving more customers more data and making it easier than ever for your customers to find what they need.
DH Systems powers Northern Salvage Automobile Auctions
DH Systems continues to support the vehicle salvage and dismantling industries with a set of new services for websites. The new www.nsaa.co.uk website, designed and powered by DH Systems showcases the latest data services available.
Your data is no longer stuck at the desktop level. Utilising our web technologies, you are able to upload vehicles, images and their data to your website, and they will appear immediately for your customers to view.
At the web level, we host the data on our dedicated SQL server, and the website on our dedicated Apache server. The images are loaded onto ‘The Cloud’ to provide the quickest browsing experience available, and maximum data and image security.
The website pages have been designed with usability in mind. The vehicle lists have all had a redesign, and the searching for vehicles is quicker than ever with AJAX page loads that save the user from reloading pages to view new search results.
Choosing any search filter, the page automatically responds by filtering the results, and makes finding the vehicle you want much quicker and simpler.
Vehicle details pages have been improved with a simplified data layout, and larger images allowing you to hover over the thumbnails to view a larger image, and you still have the ability to view larger images by clicking on any thumbnail.
Visit Northern Salvage Automobile Auctions to see it in action now.

Pawel Debowski, David Zhivkov and Andrew Philp proved they are national champions when it comes to computing networks after securing gold, silver and bronze medals at the WorldSkills UK competition held at the end of the summer.
The three students were delighted to be congratulated by Adam Smith College Principal Dr Craig Thomson and by Tony Gribben, Head of Public Sector for Cisco in Scotland. Mr Gribben also presented each student with the latest state-of-the art Flip video camera manufactured by Cisco.
Cisco is a multinational corporation which designs and sells consumer and business electronics, networking and communications technology and services. The company is a strong supporter of Adam Smith College’s Computing courses and has invested in technology to help train students studying at the College’s Priory Campus in Kirkcaldy.
Tony added, “It was a pleasure to meet the three winning students. They are a credit to themselves, to the College and to the computing industry. At Cisco we are committed to training individuals to meet their full potential. The successful partnership between Cisco and Adam Smith College ensures that this happens and can be measured by the continued success of award winning students such as Pawel, David and Andrew.”
Keith Noble, Cisco Networking Academy Specialist from Adam Smith College said: “We are very grateful for the ongoing support from Cisco who are helping to ensure we are producing students of the highest calibre who go on to further their studies at university or to secure jobs with great career prospects within the industry.”
Both Pawel, (25) from Dunfermline and David (21) from Kirkcaldy completed HND Computer Networking this year and have gone on to study BSc Applied Networking Technology at Edinburgh Napier University.
Andrew Philp (19) from Rosyth completed HNC/HND and BSc Applied Networking Technology at Adam Smith College and is now successfully working with IT companies DH Systems and Coast Networks.
Pawel is no stranger to winning gold. Originally from Wagrowiec in Poland, Pawel first competed in the WorldSkills events last year. The talented computing student went on to win gold medals this year and last year at the national WorldSkills UK Cisco Network Technician Competition.
Pawel said: “I have really enjoyed my first two years in Scotland. The Cisco Academy at Adam Smith College has great facilities; probably the best in Scotland and the course has given me the chance to progress to university as well as providing me with the practical and theoretical experience to win competitions such as the WorldSkills.
“Andrew, David and I were really pleased to be invited to attend the special presentation event held recently. Receiving recognition for our achievements from the College and Cisco along with new video cameras was the icing on the cake for us all.”
